“O you who believe! Avoid making too many assumptions, indeed some assumptions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another..”

Curiosity Kills

1 12 2011

Curiosity leads you to commit sin. Once you let the curiosity grow inside you, it will drag you to places where you don’t wanna go and make you do things that you don’t wanna do. Therefore, the best way to save yourself from curiosity and its evil is by killing it before it grows big.

Prevention is the best solution.

The best way to show you care

Three Steps towards Taqwa

20 08 2011
  1. Knowledge: The first step towards achieving Taqwa is to learn. You must know your Lord, His names and attributes. Read Tafsir and books written by knowledgeable scholars. This is a continuous process and you must continue to strive hard until you die.
  2. Reflection: One must reflect upon his life, actions and surroundings every day. Think deeply and evaluate yourself every day.
  3. Action: This is the last step but the most important of all. You must work hard to convert your knowledge into actions. Your knowledge is of no use unless you are turning them into ACTIONS and making  physical efforts.

Dua is the basis of the three steps mentioned above. It is what recharges your tired/dead soul. Dua brings mercy and guidance-without them no one can gain knowledge or make any effort to do anything. All power belongs to Allah alone. He is the One who guides you and gives you the strength needed to make any effort.

Things to keep in mind.

  1. Wasting time is worse than death
  2. Don’t be complacent.
  3. Be careful about permissible things and avoid them when necessary.
  4. If you are bored or tired, then don’t look for halal entertainment- Reflect instead. Reflecting doesn’t need any physical energy

Surah Fatiha is Everything

4 08 2011

It’s Ramadan and we are all busy praying extra salah . If we miss Taraweeh at the masjid then at least we try to pray 8 rakah at home. Some people are so busy doing extra that I feel like they are forgetting their purpose.

The purpose of Ramadan is to achieve Taqwa, to become Muttaqi. And how do we do it? It’s not possible for anyone to be guided unless he/she knows what he/she is saying in Surah Fatiha.

Knowing what you say in your salah is the only way to achieve Taqwa. After all, the reason why Ramadan has this high status is because Quran was revealed in this month.

So, whats the point if we are not really paying attention to what we are saying or hearing? Yes,  your rewards get multiplied in this month. But that was never the purpose of fasting in Ramadan. Allah said fasting is prescribed for you so that you become Muttaqi.

We read Surah Fatiha atleast 17+40=57 times everyday in Ramadan. But how many  times we say it from our heart? When we say “Ihhdinaas Sirataal Mustaqim”, do we really mean it and really ask for it? If anyone really meant everything he/she said, wouldn’t they be guided and become Muttaqi?

But if you have forgotten your purpose and doing all of these just for rewards, then I am not sure how are you going to get Taqwa.
